CHRISM MASS — Bishop Donald Bolen blesses the sacred chrism during the Chrism Mass March 29 at St. Patrick Parish in Saskatoon. Used at baptism, confirmation, ordination and the dedication of churches and altars, the sacred chrism is one of the three sacramental oils blessed by the bishop and then taken back to the parishes by local representatives for use throughout the year. This year’s Chrism Mass was the first diocesan celebration for the newly ordained bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Saskatoon, and included the renewal of priestly commitment by priests from across the diocese.
