BEAUDET DIES — Rev. Gerard Beaudet, OMI, passed away April 28, 2010 at Mazenod Residence in Saskatoon. Born in 1920 in Daveluyville, Que., he entered the novitiate of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate at Montreal, professing his first vows in 1940. Ordained in 1945, Beaudet began a long history of ministerial service among the First Nations of northern Saskatchewan and Manitoba. Fluent in Cree, he was known for his great love for and dedicated service to First Nations people. He translated the New Testament into Cree and compiled a French-Cree/Cree-French dictionary. He would have celebrated 70 years of religious life this year. (OMI photo)
