Regina
clergy appointments announced By

— The annual clergy moves for the Regina archdiocese will see
four new priests take up duties — two from India, one from the
Philippines and another from Nigeria by way of Victoria, BC. They will
replace one priest who is retiring, one returning to his home diocese
in Poland, another on a temporary leave of absence, while Rev. Tonny
Dizy remains as chancellor of the archdiocese but will no longer have
the responsibility of pastor of a parish. He will be available for replacement
ministry when required. Rev. Sathiadas Antony from Christ the Redeemer
in Swift Current will become administrator at Dizy’s former parish,
Christ the King in Regina. Rev.
Basil Chomos has decided to retire and his position as pastor of St.
Gerard in Yorkton will be taken by Rev. Francis Hengen from Our Lady
of Fatima Parish in Redvers. Rev. Clement Nwankwo becomes administrator
of Our Lady of Fatima as well as St. Maurice in Bellegarde and St. Anthony
in Storthoaks. Nwankwo is originally from Nigeria but spent three years
in Victoria BC then returned to Nigeria after completion of his three-year
contract. He asked his local bishop for permission to return to Canada
and was sent to Regina. Rev.
Ed Hengen leaves the Qu’Appelle Valley where he was pastor of
Our Lady of Sorrows in Fort Qu’Appelle; Sacred Heart in Lebret
and St. John in Balcarres, and takes over as pastor of St. Joseph in
Balgonie, St. Agnes in Pilot Butte and St. Peter’s Colony, Kronau.
Rev. Ron Andree returns from leave and takes over at Balcarres and the
parishes in the Qu’Appelle Valley. Rev.
Alejandro Cabonelas, who arrived from the Philippines in April, becomes
associate priest at Holy Child and St. Joseph the Worker in Regina and
pager reliever for Regina hospitals. Rev.
Rick Krofchek leaves Christ the King Parish in Shaunavon and takes over
at St. Peter in Lumsden, St. Jerome at Regina Beach and the Saskatchewan
Beach Chapel. Rev. John Mock takes over from Krofcheck in Shaunavon
and will be replaced in Good Samaritan Parish, Regina by Rev. Peter
Thang Nguyen. Nguyen will be replaced from Sacred Heart Parish, Raymore
and related parishes by Rev. Francis Plaparampil, who leaves as associate
pastor of the Esterhazy Region. Rev.
Francis Kurisinkal becomes administrator of St. Anne in Gull Lake, Our
Lady of Lourdes in Tompkins and St. Joseph in Cabri. Rev. Gerald Joy
Montiague, a new Filipino priest, takes over from Kurisinkal at St.
George in Assiniboia, St. Louis in Mossbank and St. Ignace in Willowbunch.
Rev. James Owolagba leaves as pastor of Gull Lake and takes over as
pastor at Christ the Redeemer, Swift Current. Rev.
Thomas Mutavaqnathu, one of the new priests from India, becomes associate
priest at. St. John the Baptist, Estevan and all the related parishes.
Rev. Thomas Thundathil, HGN (Heralds of Good News), also from India,
becomes administrator at St. John’s in Rock Glen, Our Lady of
Perpetual Help in Coronach, and St. Thérèse de l’Efant
Jesus at Lisieux. Rev. Anthony Padayatty, HGN, also from India, becomes
pastor of St. Joseph in Whitewood, St. Elizabeth in Stockholm and Holy
Name of Mary in Broadview. Rev.
Andrew Pawlowicz is returning to his home diocese in Poland and Rev.
Eusebio Tubale will be on temporary leave of absence. All appointments are effective August 1. |
