Regina clergy moves announced

REGINA — The Regina archdiocese is losing four priests and a parish minister in the 2012 clergy moves announced by Archbishop Daniel Bohan. Revs. Thomas Nguyen from Holy Cross Parish, Regina, and James Olowagba from Christ the Redeemer Parish, Swift Current, will leave for two years to study Canon Law at St. Paul’s University, Ottawa.

Revs. Emmett Morrissey of Regina’s Blessed Sacrament Parish and Gary Kuntz from St. Jean Baptiste are retiring and Sister Jacqueline Lussier, CSC, is retiring as parish minister at Our Lady of Seven Sorrows, Lampman. Rev. Keith Heiberg’s extended leave is continuing.

Rev. Barry Anwender continues at Little Flower Parish, Regina, and adds Holy Cross Parish. Rev. J. B Okai takes on St. Jean Baptiste and continues at St. Peter’s.

Our Lady of Seven Sorrows, Lampman, is taken over by Rev. Leonardo Tamayo, Jr. who moves from St. Joseph, Indian Head, and assumes responsibility for Sacred Heart Parish, Benson; Our Lady of LaSalette, Forget; and Mary Queen of the Apostles, Maryland.

Rev. George (Varki) Thattuparampil, MST, moves from Holy Rosary Cathedral to become pastor of St. Joseph’s, Indian Head; St. Columbkille, Grenfell; Immaculate Conception, Qu’Appelle; St. Anne, Wolseley; and Carry the Kettle First Nation.

Rev. Ron Andree moves from Our Lady of Sorrows, Fort Qu’Appelle, to Holy Trinity Parish, Regina. Rev. Richard Jasiak leaves Holy Trinity and becomes pastor of Christ the Redeemer Parish, Swift Current. Rev. Louis Nguyen leaves St. Joseph’s, Moose Jaw, and becomes pastor of Our Lady of Sorrows, St. John in Balcarres and Sacred Heart, Lebret.

Rev. Thomas Mutavanattu departs St. John the Baptist, Estevan, where he was associate priest, to become administrator of St. Mary, Grayson; St. Elizabeth, Killaly; St. Michael, Lemberg; Sacred Heart of Mary, Marievale; and the First Nations communities in Cowesses, Ochapawace and Kahkewistahew.

Rev. Maurice Minne comes out of retirement in Gravelbourg for a one-year appointment as administrator of St. Joseph, Hodgeville, and St. Charles, Coderre.

Rev. Guy Amedee Ainemon, SMA, becomes pastor of Notre Dame d’Auvergne, Ponteix; Our Lady of Confidence, Cadillac; St. Anne, Lac Pelletier; and St. Joseph in Vanguard. Ainemon is from the Ivory Coast and was associate priest for about a year with Rev. Carignan, who died in a vehicle accident last winter.

Rev. Ken Koep takes on sacramental ministry for St. Martin and St. Anne parishes, Regina, and Msgr. Ken Miller takes on Sunday ministry at Santa Maria Nursing home, Regina.

Deacon Barry Wood is Assisting Deacon at Regina’s Holy Rosary Cathedral and Deacon Joe Lang is Assisting Deacon at Resurrection Parish, Regina.

Unless otherwise noted, all postings take affect August 1 and are for six years. No replacement has been announced for Blessed Sacrament Church. More appointments are expected later this summer.
