SEVENTY
YEARS — Sister
Adelaide Beaulieu, IBVM, celebrated her 70th anniversary in religious
life June 23 and 24 with a mass and party organized by her friends and
family at St. John the Baptist Parish, Estevan. “It was a blast,” said
the almost 90-year-old sister. Born and raised in a Saskatchewan town
that no longer exists, she entered religious life in 1942 after a failed
attempt to join the army. Former Bishop Klein, then her parish priest,
told her instead of joining the army she should enter the convent. She
spent most of her years helping in catechetical programs in several Ontario
locations. She also did social service work. She returned to Saskatchewan
in 1986 and since then has resided in Estevan, where she serves as sacristan
at St John the Baptist.
