NEW SAINT CELEBRATED — Parishioners at Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha Church in Winnipeg join in a procession following a Sunrise ceremony Oct. 21, opening a day of celebration to mark the canonization of Kateri Tekakwitha by Pope Benedict XVI at the Vatican. Kateri is the first North American Aboriginal person to receive sainthood. The procession was followed by a community potluck meal and an afternoon of dancers, fiddlers, jigging and story sharing.
